ReelAbilities: Disabilities Film Festival is the largest festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with different disabilities. Initiated in New York in 2007, the festival presents award-winning films by and about people with disabilities in multiple locations throughout each hosting city. Post screening discussions and other engaging programs bring together the community to explore, discuss, embrace and celebrate the diversity of our shared human experience. From October 15-19, Creative Growth will host Bay Area:ReelAbilities, a national film festival of outstanding international feature films and shorts that serve as visually compelling and artistically interesting portals to better understand the contributions and issues of a broad spectrum of people with disabilities. The Festival will run in Oakland and San Francisco. Our home venue in Oakland will be the New Parkway Theater and in San Francisco, screenings will take place at the deYoung Museum and New People Cinema.
