Kamikaze Girls Free Outdoor Screening at Peace Plaza!

As a pre-party for the J-POP SUMMIT Festival, the Center for Asian American Media and the Japantown Merchants Association will host a free evening screening of Kamikaze Girls in the Japantown Peace Plaza on Friday, August 14, 2009. The movie will begin at dark between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., and 10 lucky attendees will get free movie posters! Courtesy of VIZ Pictures. Admission is free.
Based on the best-selling novel by Novala Takemoto and directed by Tetsuya Nakashima, Kamikaze Girls (Shimotsuma Story: 103min. with English Subtitles.) centers around Momoko, a self-absorbed dreamer who fantasizes about fleeing her backcountry home and living life in 18th century Versailles. When she unexpectedly meets the rebellious Ichigo, a rough-and-tumble biker chick, the two misfits form a unique friendship.
