The 1st annual festival took place on August 15th, 2009 in conjunction with the grand opening of NEW PEOPLE. Starting with the official dedication of the building and tape cutting ceremony, the all day outdoor event attracted 33,000 in attendance. Some events included the 20th Century Boys film premiere with an appearance by actress Takako Tokiwa, a panel discussion by artist Yoshitaka Amano, a fashion show by BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT and BLACK PEACE NOW, a make-over contest by Harajuku brand 6%DOKIDOKI, a concert by four Japanese rock bands in association with Japan Nite, B-Boy dance off with Japanese Tabi sneakers, and a live painting performance by artist Yuichi Yokoyama.
