HULA GIRLS Screening Raised $5,024 for Japan!
NEW PEOPLE’s HULA GIRLS screening raised $5,024! 100% of the donation goes to the NORTHERN JAPAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND ran by JCCCNC locally in Japantown. Big big thanks to the supporters who showed up to embrace the life of Fukushima miner’s daughters and to donate their love to the people in need. It was, a heart-warming evening for all.
About the Film:
Based on a true story, HULA GIRLS is a heartwarming comedy about coal miners’ daughters who took a once-in-a-lifetime chance to escape their monotonous lives, only to become unwitting heroes to their depressed mining town as well as the whole of Japan. A must see! HULA GIRLS was Japan’s official entry to the 2007 Academy Awards Best Foreign Film category that won four Japanese Academy Awards the same year including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress.
