As part of the 2nd presentation of our Bay Area Filmmakers Series, VIZ Cinema proudly welcomes director Junichi Suzuki’s documentaries that tell the stories of Japanese Americans during the War.

photographer Toyo Miyatake, a Japanese-American who smuggled his
camera into an internment camp during World War II, and captured
images that captured the plight of his people in black and white.

442nd Regimental Combat Team in WW2 composed of Japanese American were at first looked as the problem because of the race but later they were looked as the problem solver because of their splendid achievement in the battle field. They had to fight for not only enemy but also the prejudice. This is the story of 442nd and their veterans now and then.
About Director, Junichi Suzuki
Having 26 years of experience as a Motion picture director, writer and producer; seminar lecturer, volunteer of making educational films, Junichi Suzuki is credited with 11 feature films as a producer and 13 feature films as a screenwriter and 22 feature films as a director. He is also credited with numerous television documentaries as a screen writer and director. He is a member of the Directors Guild of Japan. Founder of Eleven Arts, Inc., a global distributor of Japanese movies in Santa Monica, California. Husband of actress Rumi Sakakibara.
