Mikito Ozeki's "BODIES" to open at Los Angeles Gallery 6/12
Saturday, June 12 – Saturday, July 10
at LeBasse Projects Gallery
Reception: Saturday June 12 from 7pm to 10pm
SUPERFROG Gallery teams up with LeBasse Projects Gallery again, this time to showcase Mikito OZeki’s BODIES. Paper cutout artist Mikito Ozeki’s artworks were originally brought to San Francisco for the TOKYO CREATORS MARKET Exhibition back in November. This time Ozeki’s pieces will show in LeBasse’s Project Room, joining Yoskay Yamamoto’s solo show.
Paper cutout artist Mikito Ozeki first unveiled his humorous and highly intricate robotic “beings,” which he calls BODIES, at San Francisco’s SUPERFROG Gallery. Many viewers were astounded to learn that the lavish designs were actually created from a single sheet of parchment using the painstaking process of paper cutout. The BODY series is depicted by a variety of these “figures like robots.” Ozeki leaves the meanings to his works open to interpretation and simply describes his art as, “an ambiguous something with no answer.” See more of his work at his homepage: http://www.mikito.jp/
